“‘Crinkum-Crankum Nature’: Babu Owino Slams Charges Against Eric Omondi After JKIA Arrest”

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino strongly defended comedian and activist Eric Omondi following his arrest at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Speaking at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, Babu Owino criticized the state's prosecution, describing the allegations against Omondi as a "political higi-haga" born out of a "crinkum-crankum nature" intended to paint the activist in a bad light. Omondi faced charges of obstructing traffic and creating a disturbance during recent public demonstrations protesting rising fuel prices. Appearing before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo, Omondi pleaded not guilty and was successfully released on a Ksh 100,000 personal bond. The court also ordered the immediate return of his confiscated electronic devices. The matter is set for further directions on June 22, 2026.

"Kanyari: There Was a Time I Was More Famous Than Raila Odinga"

Prophet Victor Kanyari of Salvation Healing Ministries claims that his public notoriety once surpassed that of politician Raila Odinga. Speaking during a Sunday service, Kanyari recalled a time when his image regularly dominated national newspaper front pages during the height of his media controversy. The preacher addressed his past "310 shillings" scandal, acknowledging that the public frequently labeled him a fake pastor and a conman. However, Kanyari defended his actions, arguing that his financial demands were modest compared to modern preachers who ask families for land and plots. He credited his surviving ministry and large contemporary following to his personal resilience and refusal to quit under intense public pressure.
